Prepare a Legal Memorandum on the Jeffrey Bing Matter. Use the “Senior Attorney Memorandum” to guide you. No other discovery will be conducted at this point.
Our paralegal staff has already researched this question for you. Within the Client Matter File, you will find the relevant statute (720 Ill. Comp. Stat. 5/7-1) and 1 judicial opinion (People v. S.M.). For the following assignment, use only that statute and judicial opinion to analyze Mr. Bing’s matter. Cite both the statute and judicial opinion in current Bluebook format.
I am fairly confident that this law office can show that Mr. Bing personally believed he had to use deadly force to prevent his own death or great bodily harm. Therefore, you need not address or evaluate the issue of whether Mr. Bing subjectively believed he had to use deadly force to prevent his own death or great bodily harm. Instead, only address whether Mr. Bing’s belief was reasonable.
