Topic: Athletes and Crime
What situations can you think of where an amateur or professional athlete was charged with a crime, or in your opinion should have been charged with a crime, for physical conduct beyond the rules of the game? This should be an act that happens within the game itself, not an incident that occurs off the field/court, etc.
Discuss the incident in sufficient detail that even those who are unfamiliar with the event will be able to understand.
Discuss the elements of the crime and how the athlete’s actions meet those elements and how this behavior went beyond the rules of the game.
Discuss spectator violence at sporting events.
