CJUS 360 Discussion 4
Augustine used Romans 5 to hypothesize that sin comes to humanity through the earthly father, thus the need for Christ to be born of a virgin. How does this hypothesis impact humanity in our understanding of the necessity of Christ’s blood as the propitiation (c.f. Romans 3:21-26; Hebrews 2:17) for our sins? Some outside research on this hypothesis should help fuel your thoughts on this topic of discussion (also see Isaiah 53, Hebrews 9-10, 1 John 1:5-9, etc). As we talk about blood in forensics, it is important for Christians to fully understand the uniqueness of Christ’s blood.
